Australia v India, first Test at Adelaide Oval, day two — Australia’s turn after India bowled out for 250
It only took one ball for Australia to finish the Indian batting order with Josh Hazlewood claiming the final wicket of the Indian innings with the very first ball of day two. India was bowled out for 250.
But Australia’s innings didn’t get off to a convincing start, with Aaron Finch clean bowled third ball of the innings for a duck. Australia is 1-41, with Marcus Harris on 22* and Usman Khawaja on 17*.
India’s first innings was salvaged by No.3 Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a brilliant 123 off 246 balls after coming out to bat at 1-3.
The gritty right-hander held the tourists’ innings together with the assistance of Rohit Sharma (37), Rishabh Pant (25) and Ravi Ashwin (25) after India was on the ropes at 4-41. His innings came to an end on the final ball of day one when he was brilliantly run out by Pat Cummins, and Hazlewood wrapped up India’s innings on the first ball of day two when Mohammed Shami (6) gloved down the legside.
