Profit: Franchisees took on more restaurants, meaning less staff on the chain’s payroll
Profits at the UK arm of fast food chain McDonald’s climbed 19 per cent to £341 million last year.
It cut staff numbers by more than 3,000 to 35,878, as franchisees took on more restaurants, meaning their staff switched from the McDonald’s payroll.
Total turnover stood at £1.6 billion, which was up £19 million from 2016.
Around £1.1 billion came from restaurants directly owned by the firm.
The highest-paid director – believed to be Paul Pomroy, 45 – was paid £783,000.
