A PREMIER League linesman could be in some trouble after appearing to fist pump in celebration after awarding Arsenal a goal that looked to be clearly offside.
Its Premier League Extra Time!
LINESMAN FIST PUMPS GOAL
Arsenal’s second goal against Everton is the source of controversy with goal scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang clearly offside in the lead up to putting the ball in the net.
But a closer look at the footage shows a damning moment where linesman Harry Lennard appears to celebrate the strike with a fist pump.
Everton boss Marco Silva blasted the official’s failure to chalk off the goal in his post-match comments.
“There was a big mistake by the assistant because their second goal is clearly offside and that was a big crush for us,” Silva said.
“It’s really frustrating because at that moment we only had one player in our box and it was so clear where their players were.
“It’s a bit strange for me that the assistant could not see where Aubameyang was but we can all make mistakes.
“We were in control of the game until then and it was really hard for us to come back after that.”
The images are pretty incriminating for Lennard, and his decision shapes as a big talking point after the Gunners ran out 2-0 winners.
ZABALETA’S HILARIOUS AIR SWING
West Ham full back Pablo Zabaleta has thrown a contender for the best air swing of all time in a hilarious moment against Chelsea.
The defender charged down the right wing and looked to send a dangerous cross into the area, but instead completely missed the ball!
Predictably, fans had a field day on social media!
FABIANSKI FACE SAVE
The goals just aren’t going in for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.
The Spaniard has had a poor start to the Premier League campaign amid growing strike fears for the Blues, and it appears goalkeepers continue to find creative ways to keep him out!
Hammers keeper Lukasz Fabianski produced a close range save with his face to keep his clean sheet intact and further frustrate the beleaguered striker.
Now that’s using your head.
EVERTON’S BIZARRE KIT CHOICE
When Everton play Arsenal, the kit choice would be fairly easy to deliberate, right? A primarily blue strip against a primarily red one…
But overnight at the Emirates, the Toffees bafflingly turned out in their black away kit to face the Gunners, and fans quite simply couldn’t make sense of it.
Obviously, there was no impending clash between the kits! Just bizarre.
THE PASS MASTER
Under Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea are the Premier League’s new pass masters.
The Blues have been racking up the numbers with ball at feet, and against West Ham, their metronomic midfield force notched himself a personal record.
Recruit Jorginho has been imperious in the centre of the park since arriving from Napoli alongside his mentor, and against the Hammers, the Italian international completed more passes than anyone has ever attempted in a Premier League match since 2003-04.
His 180 passes is a new mark in the English top flight although Blues fans might be wishing he made them slightly more effective as their team played out a 0-0 draw.
