RICHMOND young gun Jack Higgins has delivered many memorable moments this year.
From his first goal and celebration, to his first post-game interview, the bubbly young Tiger has delighted footy fans throughout 2018.
But few moments were more memorable than his goal against Collingwood in Round 19.
The young Tiger did brilliantly to drop — or throw, depending who you ask — the ball back into play, run around the goal post and scissor-kick the ball through for a goal.
On Monday night, Higgins received the Goal of the Year award — and delivered a memorable speech to match it.
Here’s how the speech played out …
Riewoldt: Come on in, mate. Now, run us through the goal, mate, against Collingwood. What was going through your head?
Higgins: Like always, nothing. I sort of just got there and I was — Darcy Moore — no, I can’t remember. Yeah, I saw the goal post there and it wasn’t a throw, but I had to drop the ball around and kicked a goal.
Riewoldt: I’m glad you have cleared that up. You are saying it definitely wasn’t a throw?
Higgins: Nah, wasn’t a throw.
Riewoldt: Alright, I am a little nervous about this part, but I will give the microphone over to you to thank some people. Don’t forget your teammates, alright.
Higgins: Alright. Firstly, my heart is pumping 1000 minutes per second, so if I screw it up, don’t hate on me.
Yeah, firstly I’d like to thank the Richmond Football Club and stuff like that for giving me the opportunity. Yeah, and Dimma! There you go. Giving me the opportunity in playing some games this year which is awesome. I’d like to thank all the people that helped me out in my junior career, all my teammates and my parents and my girlfriend Tenisha who gave me heaps of support this year. So yeah, really appreciate it. Thanks for the award and thanks for voting. Cheers.
